The Niagara IceDogs have announced major organizational changes following an Ontario Hockey League review.
Owner and Governor Darren DeDobbelaer will step away from daily team operations, while General Manager Wes Consorti will take on a new role as executive liaison between DeDobbelaer and club leadership.
Head Coach Ben Boudreau has been relieved of his duties, and the contracts of Assistant Coaches Dan Paille and Marc Slawson will not be renewed.
The team, in partnership with the OHL, will immediately begin the search for a new General Manager and coaching staff.
Consorti will serve as interim GM in the meantime.
DeDobbelaer said the changes reflect a commitment to building a stable and competitive team, thanking the outgoing coaches for their contributions during a season that saw the IceDogs return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
In a statement to My Broadcasting Corporation, the OHL said that changes to the organization’s hockey and business operations would be necessary for the franchise to move forward in a new direction.
The league added that it would be assisting in a search for a new GM for the IceDogs, establishing a Players First culture and environment while giving fans of the Niagara region a team they can be proud of.
