The City of St. Catharines is joining a new provincewide campaign to cut down on 911 misuse.
Teaming up with Niagara Regional Police and emergency services across Ontario, the “When Every Second Counts” campaign aims to reduce non-emergency calls that tie up crucial resources.
Officials say nearly half of all 911 calls across the province are unnecessary-ranging from accidental dials to non-urgent questions.
Residents are encouraged to learn the proper numbers to call for non-emergencies.
