Canada will conduct a nationwide test of its Alert Ready emergency alert system today, with the exception of Quebec.
The test will send messages to TV, radio, and wireless devices.
It is scheduled for 12:55 p.m. local time and will begin with the system’s distinctive alert tone to simulate an actual emergency.
Since 2024, the Alert Ready system has issued 877 emergency alerts, including AMBER alerts and warnings for severe weather events like tornadoes and flooding.
