Niagara Health is holding a free event this week to raise awareness about hepatitis.
The event, which will run from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Welland Hospital, will give residents the opportunity to learn about Niagara Health’s Hepatitis C Care Clinic, access free private hepatitis C testing, and connect with local addiction and mental health services.
Hepatitis C is spread through infected blood and, if left untreated, can lead to liver failure or liver cancer.
This marks Niagara Health’s third annual Canadian Viral Hepatitis Elimination Day event, complementing their long-standing World Hepatitis Day gathering at Montebello Park in St. Catharines, happening this year on Friday, July 25th.
For more information, visit the Hepatitis C Care clinic website, contact the clinic by phone at 905-378-4647 ext. 32554 or email HCCC@niagarahealth.on.ca.
